Archaeological finds from ancient Denmark
In the permanent exhibition ‘Vedbækfundene – a hunter people 7000 years ago you can experience unique archaeological finds from ancient Denmark. The finds originate from the area around Vedbæk Maglemose, where there was a fjord in the Stone Age. The main attraction of the exhibition is the unique graves of the hunters that were found when Vedbæk School was built. In one of the graves, a small, newborn infant is buried on a swan wing next to its mother.

The life of hunters in the primeval forest
The exhibition gives you an insight into what it was like to live as a hunter, fisherman and gatherer around 7000 years ago. In a series of nature scenarios, visitors experience what the nature around Vedbæk looked like back then. Winding paths take you through the primeval forest, where you can observe the plant and animal world of the Stone Age hunters in different seasons. A settlement and the activities that took place there have been reconstructed.

Special exhibitions and museum shop
In addition to the permanent exhibition, Vedbækfundene regularly presents a number of temporary exhibitions. Throughout the year, the museum also organises various special events aimed at both children and adults. 50 years anniversary

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the 7,000-year-old Hunter Stone Age graves with a major anniversary exhibition.

The anniversary exhibition ‘50 years of the Vedbæk finds: from Local History to World Heritage’ presents the story behind the Vedbæk finds and the latest scientific discoveries.

For decades, the Vedbæk finds have been a source of unique insight into the lives of people of the Stone Age and their lives 7,000 years ago. The exhibition looks not only to the past, but also to the future: What can modern research reveal, and how can a new museum bring history even closer to us?
