The Amalienborg Museum is located in Christian VIII’s Palace, one of the four palaces that have been home to the Danish royal family in Copenhagen since 1794.
Here you can see the royal study from Europe’s parents-in-law Christian the 9th and Queen Louise to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe’s father, Frederik. 9 You can see the dining room of Christian the 10th and Queen Alexandrine, which remains largely unchanged from when the couple lived in the mansion from around 1899 until they passed away in 1947 and 1952 respectively. You can also experience the beautiful Beletage, which houses the Gothic Library, the Pompeian Room, the Apartment Hall and the beautiful Gala Hall, which is still used by the Royal Family on special occasions to this day.
The Amalienborg Museum is located right next to HM The Queen and the residence of the Crown Prince Couple. A visit to the museum is like stepping back in time 150 years to walk through the history of Danish kings and queens. Experience Christian the 10th’s study and Frederik the 9th’s office, which are just as they were when they were used. Take a walk around the Beletagen and the palace’s many beautiful halls and notice how each room is characterised by the personal taste of the royals. You can also experience magnificent Russian jewellery in the Fabergé Chamber, where you can see a gigantic champagne cooler in gilded silver.
Finish your visit in the castle shop, where you can find a wealth of the finest ornaments, jewellery, books, postcards and much more.
