Rosenborg

In the middle of the King’s Garden, the Royal Guard guards the treasury of Denmark. The castle was built by Christian IV more than 400 years ago and over the years has stored the most precious treasures of Danish kings and queens, including the crown jewels, which are still used by the Royal Family to this day.

See Christian IV’s blood-stained robes from the Battle of Kolberger Heide, immerse yourself in the stories of royal love affairs and explore the basement for hidden treasures. Visit the Knights’ Hall, which overlooks the centre of Copenhagen, and discover the 12 large tapestries, the glass cabinet and three silver lions that are still used for royal funerals.

Take a stroll around the castle, which is full of interesting architectural details and sculptures. Sit on a bench in the Rose Garden at the back of the castle and watch the day’s exercises at the Royal Guard Barracks. Finish your visit in the castle shop, where you can find books, games, souvenirs and much more.
