Frederikssund museum, Færgegården

At Færgegården, you’ll discover the history of the people, the ferry service and the landscape around Roskilde Fjord.

Frederikssund Museum, Færgegården, is a museum dedicated to life on Roskilde Fjord. It tells the story of the people who, for thousands of years, have lived with the fjord as part of their everyday lives. As a means of livelihood, a transport route and a link to the world around them.

Færgegården itself has been an important hub. People have crossed the fjord here for centuries, and today the museum tells the story of the ferry service, the landscape and life on both sides of the fjord. Archaeological finds, historical artefacts and stories bring the past to life.

But history can also be found beyond the museum’s walls. In the countryside around Færgegården, you can explore the traces left by the people who lived here before us and experience how the fjord remains an integral part of the place.
